Follistatin is a secretory glycoprotein and a natural antagonist of the TGF-β superfamily. It can inhibit the signal transduction activity of ligands such as Activin, BMPs (bone morphogenetic protein), and Myostatin (myostatin). It plays an important role in regulating cell differentiation, tissue regeneration, and development.
